Senior sessions are so much FUN! One of my favorite things about them is the variety of images we're able to achieve simply based off of what you wear!
Sometimes what to wear can be a bit daunting though, especially when trying to choose 3-4 outfits. So I've written out a few tips below to keep in mind when going through your closet!
1.) Be Comfortable
If you're not the type to wear a dress and heels, then don't! We'll be walking and moving around a lot during your session, not to mention standing, squatting, sitting, and laying in different poses, so be sure you can move around well in what you're wearing!
Also, make sure you feel confident in your outfit choice. If you don't like the way you look from certain angles in a particular outfit, it's probably not the best choice. For example, I don't really like anything super tight fitting, so I wouldn't choose to wear anything like that for photos.
2.) Accessorize
Don't be afraid to dress up your outfits with accessories! Jewelry, hats, scarves, vests, etc.!
All of these can add so much more dimension to an outfit and really make your images pop with detail! And don't worry about it being "too much", because it's probably not! If it is, I'll be sure to let you know :)
3.) Variety
As mentioned, we'll be shooting in 3-4 outfits, so the key to this is to make sure you have a good variety! Maybe have a casual outfit or two, paired with an outfit or two of something a little dressier. Maybe you're a huge TN Volunteer fan and want to sport some orange and white, or maybe you want to rep a t-shirt and other swag from the college you're planning to attend. Whatever the case, don't be afraid to mix it up! The goal is to have different options so you can have tons of photos you love!
4.) Be Yourself!
This is definitely the most important tip! Just like the example mentioned above, if you're not the type to wear a dress and heels, don't wear a dress and heels! While you do want to look nice and not take all your photos in comfy yoga pants, your outfit choices should still represent YOU and your personality. So even if this means you don't wear any dresses, or maybe you wear only dresses, be true to yourself. Because when you look back at these photos years from now, you want to be able to recognize the person in them.
I hope these tips are helpful to you in choosing outfits for your senior session! For even more inspiration, I've linked a Pinterest board below with some great examples of what to wear!
